At ITS Lifting we have dedicated engineers that carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
A portable appliance, in general, is any item of electrical equipment that has a power lead with a plug that is intended to be connected to the mains supply.
Visual examination can be used to identify defects, but some can only be found by testing. However, it is essential to understand that visual examination is an essential part of the process as some types of electrical faults can’t be detected by testing alone.
The Electricity At Work Regulations 1989 places a responsibility on employers to ensure that all appliances used within the work environment are maintained in a safe condition. “…As may be necessary, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, as far is reasonably practicable, such danger.” (Regulation 4:2)
Any electrical appliance that can be moved, plugged in, and disconnected falls under the scope of PAT testing. This includes items like computers, kitchen appliances, power tools, extension cords, and more.
We value site surveys as they provide an opportunity to engage directly with our clients.
These surveys enable us to not only build a relationship with our customers but gather as much information so our team of engineers will arrive on-site fully briefed with a clear understanding of the equipment that requires Testing and any procedures that need to be put in place.
If you’re in need of this service then please get in touch now. One of our dedicated team would be happy to discuss any requirements you may have.
